Lubaga Hospital Launches Telehealth Services -“LH Online”

22nd October 2026 will remain in the books of Lubaga Hospital’s digital health journey.
Under the theme “Bringing Healthcare Closer Through Digital Innovation, Lubaga Hospital took a bold step into the future of healthcare by launching “Lubaga Hospital Online”, also known as “LH Online”. The new service is built on the GANDA Tele Consult Platform, a digital health innovation by the Africa Centre for Applied Digital Health (CADH).

The official launch, held at the Lubaga Hospital Staff Assembly, drew over 300 people, including the hospital’s senior management, medical doctors, health practitioners across different fields, mainstream media houses such as Daily Monitor and New Vision, and the CADH team.

The event marked the beginning of the hospital’s journey into digital health innovation, unveiling a service that promises to solve some of the biggest frustrations patients face: limited space, long queues, endless waiting hours, long distances, and bad roads that often make a simple hospital visit hard.

How LH Online Works

LH Online runs on a simple idea: your doctor should be reachable without you having to travel far or wait in line. Teleconsultation, or telehealth, is the use of a phone or computer to connect a patient with a health worker from a distance.

Through the GANDA Tele Consult platform, you book an appointment online, connect with a doctor or health worker at the agreed time, and receive advice, a diagnosis, or a follow-up plan all from wherever you are. During the launch, the team ran a live demonstration showing just how smooth the service is, walking the audience through every step, from booking the consultation to receiving the actual service.

Who Can Use LH Online

LH Online is designed for many kinds of patients and needs, including:

  • General consultations with a doctor or health worker
  • HIV care and follow-ups, including refills and routine check-ins
  • Monitoring of chronic diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart conditions
  • Family planning questions and contraceptive advice
  • Hospital follow-ups after a visit, surgery, or treatment
  • Antenatal and postnatal guidance for expectant and new mothers
  • Mental health support and counselling
  • Repeat prescriptions and simple medical advice for people who only need a routine check

Anyone who needs to talk to a trusted health worker but cannot easily reach the hospital, whether because of distance, a busy schedule, or a condition that needs regular follow-up can benefit from LH Online.

What It Means for Patients and Health Facilities.

For patients, the benefits are practical and real. You save time and money on transportation. You avoid long lines and crowded waiting rooms. You get care from the comfort of your home, which is especially helpful for the elderly, people with disabilities, expectant mothers, and anyone living far from the hospital. You also stay connected to your doctor between visits, which makes managing a long-term condition much easier.

For the hospital, LH Online eases pressure on limited space and reduces crowding. It helps doctors reach more patients in less time and cuts down on unnecessary visits for issues that can be handled remotely. It also strengthens follow-up care, so patients are less likely to fall through the cracks. Together, these benefits mean better access, greater efficiency, and more patient-centred care
